Illegal dumping of Garbage next to our residential housing complex - ALPINE VIVA at Seegehalli

We the residents of Alpine Viva Apartments would like to draw your kind attention to the unauthorized dumping of Garbage next to our Residential Project, Alpine Viva, Seegehalli, Kadugodi, Whitefield (ward number 2) .

The land next to our residential complex (disputed land between Panchayat and land owner) has been used for dumping of garbage (including Medical Waste) causing serious public health concern. This is a serious violation of all the relevant health, environment and municipal laws of the land.

Every day at-least 50 garbage trucks come to empty their contents in this ground. The stench from unauthorized dumping is unbearable and causing serious health hazard to our residents. The ground is a breeding ground of mosquitos that is spread epidemics like Dengue and Encephalitis. We already have a few cases of Dengue reported in our apartment. You would agree that this is a serious public health threat to the nearby residents and if no action is taken to stem it, this will inevitably lead to a serious public health tragedy.

In view of this, we request your kind self to take immediate action to stop this unauthorized dumping of waste and prevent a serious public health hazard. We recommend that the land is fenced to prevent vehicles from entering. We seek an immediate response from your end.

Why is this important?

UPDATE: This campaign recently achieved a victory, or so we thought. We got the local panchayat in Seegehalli to clear out an illegal garbage dump outside a residential building. But, this week, we found out that the panchayat is now going back on its promise.

The residents are not giving up without a fight and we need to stand by them. Sign the petition to show your much needed support urging the panchayat to stick to its word. If you have already signed this petition, please share it with your family and friends on social media.

Glad to inform you all that Panchayat finally took the decision in our favour for stopping the garbage dumping new our residential areas and has also agreed to fence To avoid any further intrusions. It was only possible because we all stood unitedly. We look forward to similar support every time. Thank you all for your support.

I would like to especially thank Sampath, GS - FORCE GW , to guide us right and show the confidence in our stand. Really appreciate his efforts for moderating between the two parties, and bringing the issue to a final stand not letting us lose our hopes from prevelant govt system. Would also like to mention our gratitude to Jhatkaa team of BBMP volunteers, who helped us create the petition through their site http://airalert.in/ and build up the momentum. They also helped us cover the issue through media to speed up the things.

Update on meeting with a Panchayat Vice-Chairman Suresh Babu- A bunch 15-20 people from Alpine Viva, Orchid enclave and Sterling Villa came together to protest against and show the gravity of "Garbage Dumping near any residential area". And we are pleased to tell you, we realised that there is a great Strength in Unity. We appreciate on the spot decision taken by Suresh Babu for the garbage clearance and stop the dumping going on near the residential areas. He was generous enough to commit for the fencing also without any hindrrances any further.
